Hi all. I have a question about dripping kalk. I am dripping this into a 20 gallon with quite a few SPS corals. I am not sure at what rate to drip. How many drops per second? Is there any way to figure out how much I have to drip? Or do I just have to adjust to keep up with evaporation and adjust how much kalk I mix with the water? Thanks for any help.

Probably the most important thing to remember when dripping kalk is to watch your pH. Adding too much too quickly can/will spike your pH. The rate that alot of people use is a drop a second. I know of some people who use a shotglass. Every time they walk by the tank they add a shotglass full of kalk. Over several hours, they have added what they need to.
Another train of thought is to drip kalk after your lights go off so not to spike the tanks pH. Before I got my calcium reactor, I used to drip starting at 11PM and continue dripping all night until I dripped in what I needed. IMHO

Thanks for the input. Right now I am running about 40 drops per minute. Which seems to be keeping up with the evaporation. I am dripping 24/7 right now with a high PH of 8.3 and a low of 8.0. It has not yet been long enough to see what is going on with my Calcium and Alkalinity levels. Thanks again Carl.
