I've got 2 x 250w MH over my 75g. I've read that you can satisfy the light requirements for anything with this as a minimum.

Ditto what Reaper said. I had 2 x 250 DE bulbs on my old 75 - was more than enough light. My only complaint is if you are running open top it may be hard to work in any additional actinic bulbs so you may want to look into some of the 13k, 14k or even 20k bulbs.

I'm open top. I run 20k Radiums and use 2 actinic T5 tubes for morning/evening viewing (on a timer). I would show you my tank but my camera cannot take shots under 20k MH :?:
