I recentley moved my tank and topped up the sand bed. I had about 1 inch of sand but decided to go with the DSB when I moved, total now is about 4 inches. I moved it a little over 2 weeks ago and I am noticing an amazing amount of bubble rising and sitting on the sand bed? Is this normal. I am also going through a bit of an algea bloom just on the sand ( brown) I am hoppoing this work itsefl out in the next few weeks. I am using a deionizer for all water.

Healthy sand bed bubbles to some extent, esp. if high intensity light is used. I won't say it is good, but it is definitely not a bad sign to be worry about.

Uhhh.. I was under the impression that any bubbles liberated from the sand bed were nitrogen and were a sign that the sand bed was working properly. When anything walks across my dsb there is usually a trail of tiny bubbles right behind it.

You mentioned you had a slight algae bloom? How old is your tank set up?Are you doing proper water changes. Is the water your using R/O or simply deionized? Do you have any cynobacteria? Are you using a silicate pad....Could be contributing factors to your bubble outbreak. Hope its not too serious. Good luck. 8O
