unfortunately you will probably need to fork out 200 dollars..i havent used the sea clone but havent heard too highly of this guy either...for around a 160 give or take you might wanna go with the AquaC Remora..its a hang on back and if you have a sump AquaC Urchin... and for around 130 you can get the Bak Pak 2R(assuming you are doing a reef set up) it too is a Hang On Back(H.O.B)..Like i said ive never used a sea clone but they dont seem to be highly spoken of on here either! Hope This Helps

Agreed. The Seaclone is a low end skimmer that you'll probably add to the list of "things I wish I would have never bought." You'd actually be better off to go w/o a skimmer and put your money towards a better unit. Save up and perhaps even check on ebay from time to time. Some very nice, reasonably priced used stuff comes up for sale periodically. If you can get new, terrific. Look seriously at the Euro Reef line. Pricey but best bang for the buck. As LN stated, the Remora is a decent unit as would the CPR Bak Pak, bu both will set you back some change.
Don't cut corners on a skimmer. You'll kick yourself for it later on.

Yep, I'm with the consensus here. Another skimmer to consider the Precision Marine HOT-1 (hang on). A little more spent now will save you money, time, headache, and lives down the line.

yeah, id go with the remora or remora pro. Its a bit cheaper than the rest of the good skimmers and it works great. :D

As a former seaclone skimmer owner, I can honestly say that seaclones are garbage, even with the modifications.

In this hobby, if you cut corners, things will die (experience talking). Spend the extra money and get a quality skimmer.

I have had two remora pros on my 140 for four years and they kick butt. If you get the remora/remora pro, I recommend you get the maxijet/mag drive upgrade (+$10), its worth it.

Take that seaclone, shine it up real nice, keep on shinning it, turn that sum-of-um-iatch sideways, and kick its candy ass!!!!

AquaC rocks. I use the Aquac Urchin (In-Sump) and it was well worth it. Good purchase in my book.

You can get either a remora or a bak pak for about $100 if you are willing to take a factory second. Both skimmers are far superior to the seaclone.

sorry for the late post, but I got a CPR Bakpak 2r with the combo box (bubble trap/surface skimmer) with shipping to the left coast for 160. Let me tell you, I will never skimp again. A world of difference.

Surf the web. You CAN find deals.

www.reefcentral.com has a good section of "for sale" and "wanted" things.
This board has a good classifieds area too.
The local reef clubs usually have guys upgrading and selling stuff off for dirt cheap.

There's ways to get the good stuff without paying thru the nose.

www.amekaaquatics.com is a good place to look for CPR seconds. IIRC, Euro-Reef sells seconds too, but I don't remember where that site is.

Yep, 'nuther seaclone owner here chiming in about how they suck and don't bother wasting your money on what will wind up being a very expensive powerhead. (The powerhead is the only thing decent in it..)

I may try to use one in a little 10g FO setup for the step-son if he shows a little more responsibility / willingness to take advice with his current FW setup.. We'll see about that though.. (Not holding my breath...)

Suck it up and either spend the $200 or do as is suggested and buy a Remora OR as mentioned above, pick up a better used one..)

Good luck!
