I`ve got an icecap660 that powers four 36 inch VHO`s. I replaced the bulbs with exactly the same type bulbs thay were in it and now every time I plug the lights back in it blows the 7amp fuse in the ballast.I tried putting the old bulbs back in and got the same thing.I even tried it with no bulbs and it still blew the fuse.Maybe a bare wire somewhere that I can`t see or the ballast went bad?Is there a way to check the ballast to make sure it`s still good?I figure if I can be sure the icecap is good it`s got to be in the wiring harness.Any electrical guniuses out there that can tell me the easiest way to track this down?

I've had the same problem on ballasts that were not even a year old. Icecap will tellyou how to test for continuity but in every case I have had to send the ballasts back. they are fast about returning though

OK....now we`re getting somewhere.I called the Icecap folks(very good service there)and they told me something probably shorted out the ballast.I`m going to send it back to them for repairs.I`m just worried I`ll get it back and it`ll fry again if I don`t find what caused it.I bought this hood and lights used(i`m betting this ballast is about 3 years old or so),think it`s just one of those things?I had zippo problems until I changed the bulbs.Anyone know anything else I should check BEFORE I hook the repaired ballast back up?

They will probably just give you a new one if they think that id didn't last an appropriate amout of time.

I thought you bought it NEW about ONE year ago. RIGHT?

Remember?

I had the same problem with my Icecap 660. It was just a few months old. I sent it back to icecap and they repaired it and sent it back to me the day after they received it. It works perfectly now. Great company.
