Today I counted the aptasia in my tank and I had 10 of the little buggers. I really didnt want them to become a problem at all so I went to my LFS and got a bottle of Joes Juice. The guy at the store called it "Miracle Juice"

He said he also tried to kill other things with it to see if it would work and it didnt. I used it today on all the aptasia I saw and its been about an hour now and I cant see any of them. Here is a pic of what a few of emm looked like.

I will take pics in the futurew to show that they did not come back or not. I shoot a bunch of the juice right into the center and I know they all got a good mouthful. Hopefully this stuff works and this is the end of my Aptasia problem.

I also bought 2 conches so for all the cyno and hair algea you see in the pics shoud be gone soon

I was just at their Site ( research on another thread ) and from what I can tell this is probably a CaCO3 ( Calcium Carbonate ) type formula though don't quote me on that yet. :? This type of solution has been used for years on Aiptasia.

I used the joes juice on majanos ( I am assuming they are majano) in my tank, worked great and did not cause any harm to my corals or fish

My brittle star looks to be eating the remains of the biggest aptasia

I don't know the composition of Joe's Juice, but I can assure you that it isn't calcium carbonate (CaCO3). CaCO3 is insoluble in seawater and is the major component of reef-building corals. Perhaps it contains sodium carbonate, but not calcium carbonate.

I saw a nub from where the biggest aptasia was and all of his tentacles were burned off this morning. I gave hima second shot of the juice for good measure. This stuff does work well

I used Joes Juice recently and it easily killed all my aiptasia. But my scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp mysteriosly died too.

I had 3 cleaner shrimp die just after using joes juice as well. I determined that one of the three died from another cause But I believe the other 2 cleaner shrimp died because of the juice.....

yeah I read that it may kill shrimp but I asked the lfs and they said nothing like that happened in theri tank

They have alot of shrimp in with thier corals and they are mostly hooked into the same system and they used it in their tanks with no deaths. I do have a coral banded that has been in there for a while and he seems to be doing super. Well see

is it only cleaners that have died??

I have a theory. Maybe the cleaners are not dying form the joes juice but the aptasia itself. When dying the cleaner go to eat the remains and digest the toxin that are still in the aptasia and die from it.

I see my brittle star maybe eat the remains of and aptasia but he seems fine. I think the shrimps digestive system is more sensitive to those types of things.

I had never heard of this stuff. I went to the LFS to get a peppermint and he told me to try this stuff first (to make sure my yellow polyps wouldnt get eaten). I never expected it to work as well as it did. The aptasia seemed to dissolve right in front of my eyes. Some of the stuff landed on my gorgonia and didnt seemed to affect it. This stuff is great!

stop aiptasia works for me and on majanos as well (when they get out of hand cuz i think theyre nice looking) and all stop aiptasia appears to be is some sort of greasy chili powder mix.
