I posted this in the new reekkeepers section but I want to ask here for more opinions.Finally going to take the dive and buy mh.My question is single or double base and if you have a preference why?
i'm completely new here, but i have a preference for the double ended....they seem to give out better light, and the requirement for having a glass shield would make things safer for people who don't use any cover over their tank. They are also made in smaller sizes ie 70 watts (that is what i use on my 15 gallon) and they still go up to the larger sizes staying the correct spectrums. plus you can make light fixture housings for them using a regent fixure
I also would go double eneded they are more efficient. you could compare a 250w de to a 400w se. The 250 is almost as intense in my experience and is much more energy efficient
