Hey everyone, I haven't really posted here in awhile. Just been reading and keeping up with everything. Well about 8months back I got an eclipse12 and set it up fully stock saltwater with fish only and a few coral skeletons. I plan to keep this aquarium fish only for awhile but once I get out of hawaii I will maybe add some shrooms. At anyrate I have gutted the hood and put on a whisper HOB filter and I'm currently trying to figure out which lighting system to try and fit into the hood. I'm looking at this one http://www.hellolights.com/13wretrokit.html
Its cheap and seems like its the kind that I want. The problem I'm finding is the bulb and ballast is together. Now I think that I can squeeze them into the hood and then cut some plexi glass to seperate the water from the electronics but has anyone had any expierence with this particular setup? How easy is it to mount?
Do you have any better suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey man, I know you know where the nano forum is ;)

The way a friend of mine did it was to put plexi on top of that center brace, and then drill a couple small nylon screws through it and lock it down with wingnuts and washers. Then simply place the bulbs on top of the plexi. This did a good job of sealing it from the water as well. You'll want to make the plexi cover as much as possible, and use 1/4" thickness. You may want to throw a fan on there too, depending on how much heat it puts out.

Good luck!

PS I know that you can find separate bulb/ballast kits, try www.ahsupply.com as well.

Hey Matt thanks for reminding me about ahsupply, I just ordered the two 13 watt pc lights and ballast. 10k bulb and 50/50 bulb... as long as my plans comes together it should come together nicely
Thanks again.
