I've never heard of Redox, but Ultralife's Red Slime remover and Kent's Poly Ox works. However, one should address the root causes of the red slime problem before resorting to these medications. Start by keeping your nutrients in check. If you're not using an RO/DI filter for your freshwater, am not skimming, or haven't tried high-grade carbon first, I recommend these over any of these quick-fix medications.

Redox is a german product. I was given some a few years back and tried it. It seemed to work ok, but not as quickly as others. But that might be a good thing as with the others it wipes out other stuff just as quickly.

How mature is your system?? Detritus kits are great, but not as a cure for your problem, more of a preventative measure. Are you dosing supplements/etc.? If so, stop. Is your water flow up tp par? Crushed coral without intense flow and cleaning will become a sink in time, imho. Also, sand sifting cukes and other desirable sand bed critters need sand(not hermits, obviously), not cc, so I would switch to a dsb. That is just my take on it though, as far as long term success is concerned.

If you are not skimming, or you have a poor skimmer, I would start there. You will not notice the effects immediately, but in a few weeks, you will see it dissappear. Strong flow, 02 saturation, polyfilter, high grade carbon are all great methods of battling nuisance algae of any type. You must look at your nutrient export in your system, and evaluate the situation.

I say no way to those chemical cures, they are just a quick fix and will do nothing more than mask the problem. Manual extraction coupled with proper husbandry techniques will take care of this problem in time.

Peace
