Any idea at how effective mangroves in my sump would be at removing nitrates and/or phosphates? anyone with information or experience? How hard are they to keep?
they are easy to keep if you feel like setting up lighting so it looks like your growing pot in your living room. i think they are a cool addition but the setup is kinda unsightly to have to hover a light above tank where the mangroves are.
i had them growing for years. they are very slow growers in captivity. they were a neat addition but i would not consider them good for large nutrient removal. in addition i would have to add large addtitions of mg evry couple of months. since removing i have not had to add mg....
