I live in a high-rise condo and space is a premium. I don't have room to store the 2 or 3 30 gallon garbage cans that I need for big water changes (my reef system is ~400 gallons). Has anybody seen or know where I can buy collapsible water containers? I am looking for something that I can set up in my living room and fill with 80-120 gallons of water from RO system, and then fold up store it after I am done with the water change.

I would think that somebody has to make some sort of tub that uses a liner supported by a collapsible frame, but I haven't found anything so far.

Thanks in advance.

I looked at the web cite but could not find any thing like I am looking for. Did I miss it?

So far, the closest thing I have found are free-standing, self-supporting open top water containers used for fire-fighting. But the smallest they make is 450 gallons. Most of the other collapsible containers are pillow/bladder type and won't work for water changes.

Hmm... maybe they aren't on that site. Nalgene makes them though. We use them on research cruises, where space is most definitely at a premium.

I tried to call them but they are closed. I will try them again on Monday. Thanks.

Thanks. Anyways, this would be perfect for water changes or to use as a temporary tank - but 650 gallons is way too big. I would be golden if I could find something like this that holds 75-150 gallons.

I think that would be a very doable DIY project if you can't find one COTS.

www.usplastic.com Type in 2660 in the search block. That item is a 66-gallon pool. They also have 20-gallon, 100-gallon and 150-gallon sizes.

Thanks. That is pretty close to what I was looking for.

I know you are looking for somthing colapable, but 5 galon buckets with lids are stackable when empty or full. When empty you can place them inside of each other to save space, just make sure they are dry before stacking. Plus they are cheap.

I would check your local camping/outdoor supply store. Collapsible potable water containers come in many sizes. 30 gallons is not out of the question.

Until I find exactly what I am looking for, I went ahead and bought a 44 gal garbage can. This will at least allow me to do 10% water changes until I can get something bigger. The downside is that I will have to store the garbage can and buckets in the common area of my building an hope that it does not disappear.

The collapsible containers sold by camping stores are limited to 5 gal. This will not work for me since it will be too difficult to mix and pre-heat new saltwater in 20 separate containers (the number of containers that I would need to use to do a 100 gal water change).

How about a blowup kiddie swimming pool. It fits all of the criteria you listed, plus they are cheap. THe large dia will hel to distrubute the load so there would be less chance of a crash.

No room to inflate a pool, even a kiddie pool. My reef tank is in my living room and I live on the 57th floor. I would have to hang my furniture out through the window to make room for a kiddie pool. :)

How much room do you have? Kiddie pools will take 5ft square or round. Somtimes less.
