I have this situation. I allowed my clove polyps to get out of control.

This is really the first time i've done any major fragging. The clove polyps are very VERY healthy and took over two whole rocks.

I was wondering... what tools do you guys use to scrape off the polyps or break the rock apart?

I'm under the impression you cant saw through live rock as it is like stone or cement.

in the picture it is that giant feathery mass of a shelf of polyps.

Yes. Live rock is relatively porous, and it is very easy to break with screwdriver and such.

Mason chisel and a heavy hammer will bust that sucker easily. If you've got it, you could use a diamond tipped mason sawblade too, but that might be overkill for what you want to do. :)
