All,
I saw a great set of LR on a ReefCentral thread, and was wondering if anybody here has the TBS rock, and if it is 'the bomb' like it looks there.

1) Is it real dense?
2) Did anyone order "The package"? And how was it?
2a) Anyone fed ex the stuff to their house vs air drop to the airport. The airport is close, but hard for me to get to, so I might have to pay the fed ex fee. Depends.
If you fed ex'd, how did it ship?

Im telling ya, that rock is a million times better 'looking' than the ( comparative ) crap I have gotten from other places. Is it worth the extra cost?

I got "the package" from TBS and its great. The rock is more dense and heavier than other live rock so its a little harder to work with. There is so much more life on it though such as sponges, corals, etc. Many of the sponges on my rock are still alive after over 2 years. I had the rock shipped to the airport and opted to pick it up since shipping to my door was way more expensive. It was packed well and very wet. Watch out for stone crabs and mantis shrimp with this rock though!

I wanted a deeper sandbed than the package would give me so I used it to seed some aragonite that I put in the tank before I purchased the package. This seems to have worked out good. There were lots of critters in the sand and I still see some chitons that live in the sand from time to time.

I have it too, 145# of TBS rock (package deal + 1 extra rock). They'll do Fedex, but it will cost you much much more than airport. They ship their rock and sand in water, not wrapped in towels. The rock has seen air for maybe 5 minutes while they scrub off sponges before dunking it into a bucket again.

Great stuff. The pics on RC don't do this rock justice.

I have a plenum setup, so their LS sits on the last inch of my substrate. I've now got worms doing deep-sand-diving (also snails and chitons) in the substrate, along with brittle stars, hermits, etc.

Very happy camper, though I do need to remove one mantis.

I ran a spreadsheet on it. The 'package,' even including air cargo shipping, is a better deal than a mix of 'base' rock & Fiji & critters at the LFS. (For me, anyway.).

A friend of mine recently ordered some. As I recall it was "decorator" rock. I was amazed at the life on it. I have LR that is nearly covered in corraline and his looks better with a wider array of color and "stuff" in general. If I needed any more rock in the future, I would definitely order from them.
