Check out this purple (yes that's right) Linkia star fish that I just picked up at my LFS. The color is amazing. Wow!!! The color is the same as a Coral Beauty angel fish. The color in the photo is exactly how it looks. Until now, I'd never seen a purple Linkia. Let me know what you think.

mjsdas,
Nice starfish. The color doesn't look quite as purple as it should on my monitor. Those are from Mexico (Sea of Cortez) and were not coming into the trade for quite awhile when it was shut down. Acclimate carefully. They are beautiful, but can be a little delicate IME. Good luck. Welcome to rdo.

Purple used to be pretty common. I've seen them in red, orange, blue and purple. (Doubt all of them are actually linkia species, but they sure look like them).

Your right Richard, it's not truly a linkia sp.. Purple Linkia or Purple Reef Star, is just a common name for it. If it's from the Sea of Cortez (there's another "purple linkia" sp., but I forgot where it's from and it's scientific name) it's a Leiaster teres (it's name in spanish is estrella guinda).

Harliquin shrimp eat linkia's, not sure what fish eats them solely.
