Hi everyone,

Trying to decide between a PFO or Hamilton 250W HQI Mini Pendant. They appear to be similar, but I'd like to have feedback regarding quality and craftmenship for both companies. If you've had experience with either one or both, please let me know how it went.

I'ves used the PFO and have seen the Hamilton. Honestly, there' very similiar and hard to tell apart.

Another pendant to consider is the Sunlight Supply 250W HQI. It's smaller and is definitely different then PFO's and Hamilton's design.

I have both the Hamilton and Sunlight Supply's 250 watt HQI pendants. I like the Sunlight Reef Optix III because of its size, reflector, build quality, and hanging options.

FWIW, based on Sanjay's latest reflector study I would go for the Reef Optix III as Greg suggested. The new style PFO pendent also looks like a good choice based on that study.

I'm totally happy with the spread and intensity on the Hamilton Reefstar. I've never used the pfo's, but have heard others complain about the spread on the old ones anyway.

Thanks for the link, Ralphyhp!

Everyone, I appreciate all the response and info. I've decided to have a unit custom built with a hammertone reflector.

I like the Hamilton. I have a 24" fixture with a 150w HQI and 2 VHO actinics. Quality is great and customer service is great.

That is a great deal. It even beats the reef optix III's I've seen on ebay. The custom unit will cost me $50 more because it will be a hood instead of a pendant, so that I can have a fan built-in. I don't have a chiller or a canopy, so I'll be relying on my homes AC during the summer.
