I said two...but it's more like three or four times a day.
Only people with large predators should skip a day between feedings.
Your fish wouldn't starve if you skip a day any more than you would...or even if you skipped a whole weekend...but it isn't good for them.
I think multiple small feedings simulates the reef environment. Fish get a tiny morsel many times a day. In nature, they would never get one large gorging once a day.
I feed them just a few bites whenever I feel like they are hungry. But it doesn't polute the water because I never feed enough for more than a few bites for the hermits and shrimp to hit the bottom.
Still, I do sometimes forget to feed them and I make up for it with a large feeding.
Basically, I don't keep a regular schedule (and neither would they in the ocean), but I try to feed very small amounts very often.
i sometimes feed flakes in the am and frozen in the pm - or vice versa. sometimes i alternate between days - flakes one day, frozen the next. it just depends on my schedule. but they get fed at least once a day.
My live rock seems to have anough various things that the few fish in there are always hunting.
Fish are growing so I assume all is well and I still see lots of little things. Then again I have like 175 pounds of LR in a 90 with 1 very small hawk and 6 green chromis so we aren't talking a major fish load
eI feed 2, but that's my FW Tank 2 Yellow Labs and 4 Guppies. They get 1 cube of Frozen at 8am when its lightrs out, and 1 frozen cube at 8pm when it's lights on. right now I've unloaded all my small SW tanks and am putting up a new 75 gallon. Matter a fact just rock scaped it and did the fuges Plenum, and DSB today. Will add tank sand tomorrow. But my back could take no more 6 ruptued disc owwwwwyyyyyy!!!
I used to feed twice a day, but now I've only got time to feed once a day (after work). It's mostly Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef frozen cubes now, thawed of course.
