Ralphyhp, you got robed, big time...

Just kidding. Usually, red cap does not command such a price, since it is relative easy to grow (I have problem with Montipora in past two years... don't know why..., but all my acrops are doing well.) In fact, you can get frags for about $10 to $25 easily. However, it is very rare to get a relatively large colony of red cap in such good condition, and it is well worth the price you paid. I hope it is aquacultured one, since they usually do better with wild montis.

I think it's very difficult for those of us stateside to accurately quantify what you should be paying for specimens like this on the island, Ralphy. For instance, did someone grow this thing out there, or was it shipped in from Florida/New York? If it was shipped, I'd wager you paid a price that's fair to the dealer. If it was grown on the island, I'd love to know where/which side (Atlantic or Caribbean?).

Looks great, that's about the going rate here in the NYC area.

Looks like one of the Bali aquacultue bases. Is the rock its on flat with a new break in the center of the bottom? {spike}You all claim you want aquaculture and less impact on the wild reefs, but when it comes to paying a little more for such .....

Um, he already paid the price. And wanting a good value for your money, or even your money's worth is hardly the same as looking for the cheapest you can get.

As I pointed out above, on the island many things are just going to cost more.
