What I mean is a ReefREady tank with the overflows on the OUTSIDE of the tank. How would this work?? Inter-american is putting them on and saying they are great. Do you guys forsee problems. It would sure free up ALOT of space INSIDE the tank!!! If I have a 2 inch drain on the bottom of these, they are drilling a 3 inch hole that will be like a "notch" LET me know before I order.

I believe Sanjay did this on his tank a long time ago. There should be no problems with this design. I think I may do this with my next tank :)

I'd like to see pics as well and Len is right that Sanjay did this a while back. FWIW, Calfo also talks about this design in his coral prop book.

This is somewhat similar to what I ened up doing w/ my 30 long: the top left corner of the acrylic tank was dual drilled and I installed dual external Durso's on it. Works like a champ. :D

How does the overflow work? Do you have to construct a custom tank? Most tanks have that frame around the top and bottom ... do you drill the glass out under it or do you interrupt the frame? I'd like to see a pic, this idea is really neat.

This is pretty much a standard thing on large custom acrylic tanks for hotels, restaurants, etc. All you see in the tank is the teeth of the overflow, and the works are hidden in the wall.

Well, that looks like it would certainly make retrieving a fish from the overflow easier.

I'm incredibly curious, what are the things on the tees in the plumbing right above the return pumps?
