hello everyone, i added my first cleaner shrimp about 3 days ago and i acclimated him very slow, nearly 2 hours.... i was just wondering if they always hide, i can see him back in the rocks and hes really active but he hasnt came out yet, he seems to be eating stuff on the rocks, do they always hide? or will he start making appearances later after he gets more settled in?

Mine generally stay in the shaded caves while the lights are on, occasionally venturing out at feeding time. After the lights go out, they are a lot more mobile, cruising the tank for food.

After I added mine, the fish saw him a just knew to hang around where he was to get their cleaning. Really cool to watch.

If he's really small you'll probably have to wait for him to grow some. The small ones tend to hide quite a bit.

Ours hid the first week and then came out. Two seem less shy than one alone. Now, they fear nothing. The kids love to put their hands in and get them "checked for parasites". They tend to hide again for a couple of days after they molt (which happens about once a month in our tank, depends on iodine level).
