If you had a Oceanic 140 RR,and You wanted to drill a couple of holes in the back for a closed looped system, where would you drill the holes and why,You could also drill holes on the bottom, your choice :eek:

This is my idea for an over the top closed loop, this is only the returns and i need one more cross to finish them, nudder trip to home depot. I really don't want to see any piping, but drilling holes is kinda permanent. I was also thinking of a tank wide manifold with loc-line nozzles, but i heard that the nozzles leaks a little if they are not submerged.Any suggestions from Y'all would be greatly a-pre-she-ate-it. Tanks

Yulp, loc-lines will leak a little (venturi air like 'ya said) but they shure are pretty compared to white PVC! - And whats up with that? - No SCWD? I'd knock that T outta there and put a SCWD in to change it up a little... (That's just me though..)

Thanks GD, that's a real good idea. I was thinking of using a Sedra 9000 pump, Where should i put a valve to control flow, before or after the pump?, and is using 3/4" pipe for both intake and return is Ok?. SCWD $32 at LFS

Another idea is to run some PVC under the sand to the front of the tank then come up and face the rock work. I plan on adding this feature to my 210 after I get back from a trip.

I guess if it were me I'd put the valve between the pump and the SCWD.. Not sure on the physics, but I think straining the pump on the inlet side might cause it more strain than constricting the outlet.. (Just a guess though..)

And yeah, I'd think 3/4" would be good depending on the number of outlets... - The overall effect you probably want is just flow, not a high-velocity jet right?

I edited out that thought reefann because I couldn't get it clear what I was planning on my next tank move...

Examples I've seen of that look ultimately cool!

I was just looking at the SCWD and the only problem, well two. First the tank is going to be( has to be) only two maybe three inches from the wall. Second i would have to switch from solid pipe to hose to connect it in. I didn't plan to have a need to get back there much. The SCWD does require cleaning. I guess i could make the "T" into one legged football goal instead of my current config, maybe install the scwdright outside the pump in the stand. Can a pumphead wavemaker controller handle the current of say two mag 12's?

Yes, you never want to put a valve on the inlet of a pump, only on the outflow side.
