Hi Everyone,

I am trying to figure out the sump setup for my future 50g...I was thinking about a 10g All-Glass in the stand below the main tank. I want to have the protein skimmer & heaters in the sump so that the display tank isn't all cluttered up, however, the 10g tank is only 12" high, and the AquaC Urchin is 18" tall. Does the entire skimmer need to be fully submersed in order to function properly?

Thanks is advance!

I'm pretty sure that as long as the pump is underwater you should be fine but I'll defer to someone that has one of these to make sure.

Shane is right. The water level in my sump is typically 6 to 7 inches deep and the Aqua C Urchin does fine. The outlet is about 12 inches up on the side of the skimmer and the water just flows down the side of the skimmer box.

Those are great little skimmers. One guyI know has one in his like 6 gallon sump. Works really well.
