How often should I clean my back-pak skimmer? I usually clean the collection cup twice a week. But the actually skimmer itself is awkward to clean...so I usually leave it for months at a time.

I clean my skimmer body in the 6-12 month time frame. I clean the neck when I pull off the cup to clean it. Not a good cleaning when I pull the cup just a whipe down to get most of the guck that is there.

Same procedure here. Just as a sidenote, I think it's a lot more important to keep your powerhead squeaky clean to maximize flow and venturi action.

In my case it would be the becket. But the same idea, to keep the bubble producing device clean.

I clean the collection cup on my EV-120 about one a week. I wipe down the bubble chamber at the same time. about every three months I clean the water intake and check the air intake.

Weekly rinse of cup and neck with each skimmate dump and a brush scrubbing of the body/bubble chamber and injector nozzle about every other month. After each cleaning it takes a few hours to get back into the swing of things but it does help.

I have the AquaC Urchin and it's a great unit.

On the Bak-Pak, How do you guys keep the intake clear of buildup.

It seems I have to tke the whole powerhead area apart to clear the air intake of calcium buildup.
