I went to the LFS today and saw they had a unit that was DI only. No RO and it was 50 bux. I went to office depot and saw a RO unit, that was 128 bux. Do i need to get both systems in order for it to work? or is there a system that has it all in one? Where can i find one? and for a decent price?

Thanks,

- Larry

PS: a fast response would be great, as im looking for one to buy immediatly online.

There are tons, and yes, you can get a combo RO/DI unit (little more expensive). Generally price is a factor of how much filtered water it will produce in 24 hours (faster == costs more).

Try marindepot.

I wouldn't recommend buying one from an LFS, the markup is nasty. Avoid them for the filter media as well (again, retarded markup).

If you have a lowes or home depot, I think they also sell them but maybe you'd want to avoid that because they're not a type manufactured by a company familiar with aquarium application. dunno of that's a problem but it might be (like if you need specialized parts and adapters etc)

Definately go to:

MarineDepot.com -or- PremiumAquatics.com

I currently have a Kent Marine Maxxima Hi-S 35GPD RO/DI unit and I could not be happier.

Also, make sure you get a tds meter to measure the Total Dissolved Solids. No point in having a filter if you have no way of knowing if its working. I check ever batch of water I make to make sure it has a tds reading of 0-1.
