ive kept saltwater tanks for years now, and just really got back into it over the past year and a half, ive never kept any aggressive fish, i really like triggers, lionfish, and some of the eels, i was wondering what i could do with a 35 gallon hex i have laying around. i have my 75 setup reef, but i think an aggressive setup would be pretty cool also.

Triggers are messy eaters and create alot of waste. A trigger would wreak havok on the water parameters in that small of a tank. I also don't think that tank is big enough. Ive seen min tank requirements listed at 70-75 gallons.

If you wanted to get a baby trigger and use that tank as a short term option till you can upgrade it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure to constantly test your water.

Triggers never stop swimming. I think they need a long tank, plus they get real big, real fast. That tank might be just the right size for sea horses though.

Triggers do get large and like to swim, I am not sure about a dwarf lion fish in 35g hex. others here I am sure can comment on that.

You can definitely keep one of the dwarf lions in that size tank. There are also a handful of morays (Gymnothorax melatremus, for one), that stay small enough to fit in your tank. Any trigger will grow far too large at max size to fit in your tank, unfortunately.
