I`m not real happy with the algae sheets. They get trashed too easily and then you have all that to deal with.I`m thinking of trying some blanched veggies to suppliment.I read that broccoli and squash are good.Anybody try these or something else? Also ,is it possible to cut out the sheets altoghether and just go with just the veggies?

Thanks

IMO it isn't a good idea to try to eliminate food of a marine origin from your fishes diet. I've found rolling red or brown algae TIGHTLY within the green nori keeps it all together well.

Antoher option is making a feeding rock (nori filled with mysis, brine,etc.., tied with a rubber band) also keeps it together well and also attracts non herbivorous fish.

Can you grow macro algae in your sump or fuge? This could also be an option.

I have used zuccini cut into thin strips. My atlantic blue tang loves it.

He eats nori and seaweed selects very quickly too. I only put about a 2 - 3 " square sheet in at a time. It is usually all gone within an hour so it never gets messy.

Try the Dulse from http://www.seaveg.com/

I think it is the same thing as they package up and sell as sprungs sea veggies.

I've heard other reefers swear by it. I just bought a bunch and my tangs still prefer nori but they are starting to like the dulse more and more.

I use the sheets, I cut mine into quarters and clip 3 diff. types on to feed. I used to go the larger sheets but it was to messy.
When I dont feed the sheets I clip a orange slice on for them to pick at.
My tangs and File fish like the orange snack.
I dont feed the veggies.

I stick pieces of lettuce (? what kind) in a homemade clip and the tang loves it. THe other critters eat it also so I have to move it hight in the tank. GL,
