Ok, I know I just read something about this a few days ago, but I can't find the thread anywhere and I don't remember exactly what was said. So I'm gonna be lazy and ask it again. I have a chocolate-chip starfish that just seems to be hanging out at the top of the tank with one arm out of the water. He's been like this for a few days. The arm out of the water is slouched over, almost bent backwards. He isn't floating, still stuck to the glass, so I assume he's still alive, but what gives? Is this normal? Do I need to do anything? Let me know whats up.

Thanks,
Scott

He's fine. I have one and that's how he seems to feed. He likes to chow down on stuff that floats around on the surface. I bet his "feelers" are sticking out and his mouth open.

I have had a small chocolate chip for about 9 months and he does the same thing from time to time. He as done it for several days at a time also. Once in a while he will also move to the bottom of the tank and arch his "back" and feed on the substrate or he will do the same on a dead turbo for up to a week.

One thing I am sure you already know is that these guys will destroy any micros, coral or anything else that can't get out of its way. :!:

I had one in my FO tank - he would come to the surface once every 4 or 5days. I would give him a small piece of shrimp and he would eat it on the glass then go to the bottom until he was hungry.

Mooner- I'm aware of this. It's in my 120 FOWLR tank, but thanks.

I'm gonna try giving him some shrimp and see if he takes it. Thanks for all the replies.
