apparently on my last water change i didnt seal the bag of salt all the way
now its basically one big chunk...is it still usable? i broke must of it up with my hand and its pretty fine now. want to make sure before i do anytthing with it though
It is fine. However, be aware that the calcium maybe lower than what it used to, and you may need to supplement a bit more than normal with calcium and alk. additive if you use it for water change. Don't waste it, but be more careful next time.
Yep. I get the giant IO bucket for the fact that it's cheaper, you get a free rio mini and easy to use. That one will seal like a champ if you have strong fingers to get it back off.
if its hardened up, close the bag up and just hit it with your hand or somehting hard, but that wont rip the bag, break it up back to powder b4 putting it in, otherwise it takes forever to dissolve
I buy the 50 gallon IO bags - fits into two 1.3 gallon airtight rubbermaid containers I bought with enough room for my 1/2 cup scoop. Haven't had a problem with the salt hardening up since. And when I open the 2nd container I know it's time to go pickup some more salt.
