Quick question... I have a 90gal reef tank and the water is not exactly 100% crystal clear. Its clear just not perfectly clear like I have had in previous tanks. I am currently not using carbon because I was told that I didn't have to and should in my setup. I was told that a long time ago so I wanted to get everyones advise. Should I use carbon? Should I not?

Here are my specs.
90gal 90Lbs live rock
Red Sea protein skimmer
Magnum 350
4-5 inch sand bed
No soft corals yet just a couple of clowns and a jawhead.

I run it 24/7 but that seems to be a matter of opinion. Most people however, would probably say to run it. 2 most common regiments seem to be 1 time a month for 7days or 24/7.

I run it 24/7 as well. I use chempure and change it out every 4-5 months. It's all personal opinion, you will see some of the most crystal clear, stable, awesome tanks utilizing carbon.

Yeah I've always ran it 24/7. I use Kent. But some people get better results 1 week every month others run like me and CMC It kinda veries I guess with your setup.

Yes carbon can leach stuff back into you tank, but only after it reaches saturation point. As long as your rinse it out regularly, and change it when it goes beat you'll be fine. It last longer for some shorter for others, it depends on your setup, and how much yuckies it is removing.
