He is all the way at the top of the tank... Mostly in the same corner and seems something lifeless... I thought something was wrong but in the morning he is all over the place and nomal...

I tested everything and everything is perfect...

Any ideas?

Yup they do this. :)
If they have no host they'll sleep towards the top of the tank and while awake some will play in the flow of powerheads. Sounds normal as long as they're not gasping for air at the surface.

It is not unusual for clownfish to sleep in this awkward position, so dont panic. im pretty sure the reasons are unknown, unless anyone else has new info proving otherwise. :D

Cool... Thanks for your quick replies! I was getting worried a little...

Durring the day HE DOES play in the flow of the power head!

He is like a big baby!

I'll eventualy get him a "host"... But I think my tank is to new for that right now...

A host doesnt have to be an anemone either. They will host in lots of different corals or even fake anemones/corals.

Mine love my colt! I have a nice size anemone on the other side of the tank they use to host in until they found the colt!

yeah mine took a powerhead as a host . he sleeps on top of it. its a normal for clownfish to sleep sideways toward the top of the tank. I have a 300gallon and a 100 gallon refugium . what s weird is I have 3 clown fish one female and two males. One of the males somehow jumped over into my overflow into the 100 gallon refugium. A few days later I couldnt find the female. Guess what happened the female showed up in the 100 gallon refugium . they are back together . + the refugium is filled with copepods and mysis shrimp. . Its strange I have a 2inch drain going into the refugium.

Do you find the colt easy to take care of? I'm still kind of new"ISH" with saltwater...

If you get a nice healthy one to begin with. It does best with a soft current to keep it moving slighty when expanded. I have kept them under many different lighting conditions and think they do best under moderate lighting.

Tell me about your set up, lighting, filtration, parameters, lenght of time the tanks been set up, ect...

My clowns decided that the open brain coral was a cozy place to hang out. The brain really didn't like this, and stayed deflated for a few weeks. I moved the brain to the other end of the tank, and this convinced the clown's to move on to the anenome.

It took another couple weeks, but now the brain is starting to come back to normal.

Silly clowns!

Mine use Duncanopsamia as a host. I'm not sure how much the coral enjoys this though as the polyps withdraw after too much "nestling". Doesn't appear to have any long term effects.

Mine like to spend the evening in the upper right hand side of my tank, just under the sea swirl (less water movement I guess). But stranger then that is my Blue Tang, it sleeps in an SPS coral at night, Does anyone else have one that does this?

That is funny as hell. Dory musta forgot she didn't get the Nemo role.
