Is it just me or is this kit INSANELY hard to read? every time I use it the test solution is always milky with a slight purplish/pink tint to it.. looks NOTHING like anything on the comparison chart... I find it ridiculous to try and guesstimate what value it could be considering how dangerous high ammonia level is.... Any suggestion on other test kits I could buy that's accurate and easier to use? Thanks...

According to a study done by Consumer Reports (only reason I new about this is that it was highlighted in an aquarium magazine column a while back) the Aquarium Pharm Dry Tab Ammonia test kit was the most accurate. It is the one I use.
You will find that some of the Salifert test kits are a bit difficult to use. The only one I use of Salifert is the Magnesium test. I use Sera liquid nitrate (you can go from 0 to 400ppm depending on the test water dilution) or Aq Pharm drytab nitrate test, Sera nitrite test, electronic pH meter, Sera Kh test, and LaMotte calcium test kit.
