I have a 58 gallon reef.

I have 2 false percs, 1 6-line wrasse and a algae blennie.

I would like to add one or 2 more fish.

Something like a show piece fish. Bright colors and swims allot adn doesn't hide.

I love purple tangs but my tank is a little small for them.

Any ideas?

I have a black cap basslet that is gorgeous and peaceful. He occasionally disappears into the rock, but mostly is out in view. Not a swimming back and forth type however.

i like green chromis, even though many consider them to be starter fish. the have awesome coloring and they are mid level swimmers, never saw them hiding in the rocks. Or a coral beauty?

An anthias!

Or a fairy wrasse, genus Cirrhilabrus.

Orchid dottybacks are peaceful, gorgeous little fish, and you can get CB pairs.

I agree with Wazzel - a royal gramma has spectacular color and would be fine, IMHO, in your tank.

I wouldn't do the firefish with a pseudo - could get ugly for the firefish?

Already done. I didi it a while back the and they were both fine. The fire fish jumped one night though, hmmm maybe it was cause of the psuedo.

Who knows.

This pseudo is real chill though he just investigates stuff and he's on his way

A few suggestions:

- Dwarf Angel of some sort (maybe golden, flame , fireball)

- a single Fathead anthias (make sure you spend the money on a healthy one)

- Midas Blenny (one of my favorites - always out swimming unlike others in it's genus)

A few things about your suggestions.

-Dwarf angel: I know I said FOWLR but it may as well be I have a small colony of Xenia and a few mushrooms I would love to keep and with an angel they are in danger

- Anthias: I dont know what the one you are talking about looks like but the seem to dull for me kinda like a freshwater fish nothign really stands out about them to me, but I havent seen them all I could love the one your talking about

-Midas blenny: I am not a big fan of blennies, althogh they are very hardy fish and fun to watch

I look at my lawnmower and he acts like he is going to charge me sometimes. Cranky little bugger

As far as dwarf angels go, Centropyge argi is probably the closest to reefsafe. Mushrooms are almost always safe from angels in any case. Xenia I'm not so sure about.

Anthias, are ya kidding supa? They're probably one of the most colorful fish out there, after maybe fairy and flasher wrasses. Check out Pseudanthias squamipinnis.

A firefish and any Pseudochromis (except *maybe* P. fridmani)? No way. I'd be willing to bet the farm that the dotty is exactly why your firefish jumped. And FWIW, firefish will not get along with their congeners. They usually don't get along with their conspecifics over the long term, unless a truly mated pair is obtained. IME, the purple firefish is a bit more aggressive than the red, and will win in a terrtory war.

I know it "hides" but you can't beat a blue spotted jawfish for color or personality. His head is always sticking out and looking around. It's a great fish.

I've also heard great things about cardinalfish. I'm about to add Baggai's to our tank, but for bright fish that don't hide I'd look at a pajama Cardinalfish. A friend has one and it looks really neat.

I like the anthias idea. Get a copy of Reef Fishes and find a species you like. A fairy or flasher wrasse would also be a good call.
