Just picked him up today because my daughter has been wanting one as much as I have. Very interesting creature. Acclimated him for 1 hour and took care with the alk equalization as recommended.

I was wondering if any fellow owners could recommend foods and do's/dont's for this guy?

Thanks in advance.

It's a grazer, and a pretty efficient one at that. There's no food you have to feed it, and aside from the usual care of echinoderms (stable salinity, no heavy metals, et al.) these urchins are fairly simple to keep. However, if your tank is on the smaller side, you may have barren rock in short time.

i have one. i only see it at night but it is very cool to watch it glide around on the rocks. i try to feed it dried nori, it doesnt it the stuff so i let him cruise around and eat on its own. i acclimated the urchin very slowly over 2 hours.

Ha!

You all weren't kidding about the urchin "decorating" itself with stuff. So far it has adorned him/herself with 2 large vacated turbo shells, a horseshoe crab shell and several rocks. It looks like a vagabond wandering the streets of the reef neighborhood sporting all its cherished possessions. Just weird.

I like it!
