Cerinth eggs?

I had a long white strand (looks like a piece of angel hair pasta thrown against the wall) deposited on the front glass by a cerinth snail. Straightened out, it would probably exceed a foot in length.

Am I correct in assuming that these are eggs? If so, any tips on assuring survival?

These are the first cerinths I've ever had reproduce. I feel like a new granddad! :wink:

Sounds like your snails have laid eggs. I'm not sure on their survival rate as they may have a planktonic stage.

I have heard they do that quite often. I have strombus snails and they reproduce successfully all the time. Don't know about cerinth but my strombus develop in the eggs until they are baby versions of the adults.

If they dont survive the planktonic stage as liquid says, they would be great food for your tank inhabitants, IMHO.

my snails have also laid eggs a few times on the aquarium glass... most often, they didnt survive the night. you could probably use a cardboard cutter knife and scrape it off the glass and put it in a separate holding area, but i don't think it's worth all the hassle.. i also have bumble bee eggs laid in a crevice of a live rock that has been there for more than six months..! nothing so far..
