Hi! I'm getting ready to set up a 30 gallon tank and was wondering, with so many purveyors of live rock online, who has the best consistent product? Any feedback would be great. Thanks M

I'm a big Fiji LR fan. It's the best value IMO, with great diversity, very porous, and aestheically pleasing. I prefer to purchase transhipped rock and cure it myself instead of having a store scrub/cure it for me. It just takes a vat of saltwater, a pump, and a heater to do this curing, so I recommend you do it yourself.

Most Fiji rock comes from the same source, so whoever you buy it from, it's probably going to be the same rock. Buy whoever is closer to you or offers you the best service. I have had very good experience from nearly all of this site's sponsors (haven't used them alll just yet :P) www.reefs.org/sponsor.html

Fiji even has begun to aquaculture LR, I believe :D

i buy from marine depot once and premium the other time and they were awesome. i had marshall rock in my old smaller tank but it is too expensive for my 100 gallon. i went with fiji and it is more diverse like len says.

Also try exoticfish.com, I buy rock from them all the time, I go pick it up, but I'm sure having it shipped is just as good, they seem like a really good store, and fair prices. They have fiji, marshall, tonga, vanatu, all different grades. I have also heard harboraquatics has really good rock, i think a little more expensive though. And TBS and Dr Mac have really good rock, but the most expensive. HTH

I had good luck with both premiumaquatics.com (they let you mix and match the rock) and ffexpress.com. And I would cure it myself.
Also watch the shipping: it can be almost more than the rock. I liked the shipping to the airport option that premiumaquatics let me have.

ffexpress has been bought by liveaquaria.

I ordered from PEtsolutions cuz they had great price, 46 lbs of fiji. It was pretty good, bu i would have liked more diversity with the rock. The problem with the web is you cant see the rock ou get. :)

I have always used Liveaquaria.com for my LR and have always had great success with it. Every piece of rock I have ever gotten from them has always been full of critters (fanworms, shrimp, even a couple star fish, etc.).

This company was recommend to me by someone on this sight and I have read great stuff about thier rock on reefcentral.com. They also ship thier live rock in water and not wraped in towls.

i'm pretty sure water freight is not something you want to pay for

packing in water also kills the life on the rock far faster than shipping it damp
