Hi, guys/gals..
i bought a banded/bamboo shark egg and i was wandering... can i clean it??
LOL the thing is that it has all thes white sandy giberish thing on top of it that it makes it dificult to see whats going inside, i know that theres nothing wrong with it since my friend also bought one and it hatched yesterday and it was in the exact same conditon as mine.. but im just too picky....

ive seen on the web many pics of bamboo sharks that are almost dark amber clear with out any debris or things attached to it... can i clean it??

maybe with a tooth brush???

well... thx for listening

ohhh... another question... how long would it take to hatch!???
the egg yolk ( as i call it, dunno if its the right name) its as big as a quarter..
the siloette of the shark is clearly visible... i estimate is gonna take 3 weeks?? but im no shark expert and havent had this expirience before.

I have hatched three eggs over the past 10 years, so I have some experience. My first shark died of a skin infection, I was inexperienced. My second one did real well until I had a system faliure while on vacation and all the fish in my tank died. My current shark I have had for nearly two years. You can take a tooth brush and gently clean the egg if you want, just don't take it out of the water and don't push too hard. The time it takes the shark to hatch is often a function of water quality and temperature, although I would not adjust anything to make it hatch faster. One of the eggs I had looked nearly freshly laid when I got it: it was all yolk and no shark. That one took almost 3 months to hatch. I would say you have a good month if the yolk is the size of a quarter. You know it is ready when the yolk is totally gone. If it hasn't hatched by a week after the yolk is clearly gone, you need to cut the shark out. 1/3 of all these eggs never hatch even if the shark is fully developed and healthy. I have cut all three of mine out, and have had good success with this method. I can answer any questions you might have, feel free to email me at [email protected] Good luck.
