They're all over the place now, at least on the WC. I stuck one in my 12 g, cost me 27.50 at a wholesaler. Hard to pass it up at that price.

I told every one the skinny in Matts thread. Thousands came in and were sold at below 1/2 price to wholesalers, etailers and retialers alike (for the same price to all, almost single digits!!!). We were offerred them and took a few, luckily we sold all of ours before the prices hit such a low in the wholesale environment. You can choose to believe me or not, but this is the truth.

Close, Singapore, but they're weren't collected in Singapore :wink: only sold "thru" Singapore giving them bonafide export documents.

I read and article in Aquarium Fish that says these guys are bleached to allow their true pigment to show. Meaning that they have no zooxanthellae, and have to be fed frequently. Is this true?

Ohh BTW my RBTA stays seated for 3 days (eating great), then on the night of the 3rd day the damn thing moves. He is now in the front right of my tank on the glass. Any clues.

Nope, not true. Do a web search for pictures of rose anemones in the wild, you'll see fields of them along with their clowns hoverring above.

People can say what ever they please, truth or lie. My boss, a collector with over 30 years experience has seen vast fields of these and revisitted the colonies many times (a good clown fish collection area) over long periods of time. They weren't in deep water, or shaded, they were on the reef crest!

If thats what was in print in Aquarium fish Monthly, I fear for all that gather any information from that magazine.

well if they have no zooxanthellae then good luck getting it back... its possible but not always the case..will need frequent feeds to survive indefinitely..however i agree with Gresham..that would mean most LFS are buying from non MAC certified vendors...I dont think this is the case...I could be wrong though...

Huh? MAC certifies fish, collection areas, collectors, wholesalers, exporters and retailers BUT not invertebrates or any thing other then fish. MAC certified fish are REALLY scarce at the time as they barely have anyone collecting in their certification scheme.

There are no MAC certified dealers hardly at all.
Out of 5,000 stores that carry salt, only 6 paid to get certified [...cough..P.R.move...cough...] and they carry cyanide fish as before since there is virtually no certified fish supply!
Its an urban legend!
It ain't cricket and it does not and has not worked!
MAC is a bank account, an office creation and a mental construct. It is not...repeat not a village friendly field organization that works the field, mixes w/ the locals and gets wet... The only two villages they have managed to coopt sell fish behind their back to others...to ship elsewhere!
Its a notion in search of a reality. Well intentioned? Doubtful ...but very well funded...this kind of "Reform" will never happen from stateside office people who don't swim!
The 'need' to believe in things is not activity by itself!
Training a few thousand fisherman to collect in sustainable fashion IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT endeavor then rewarding cyanide fish dealers with a certification to hang on the wall.
All dirty industrys put out whitewash PR. loggers, polluters, tuna fishing companies, oil companies etc. Ours is no different.

Sorry i thought that was starting to boom? obviously im wrong..nonetheless thats my support for that...MC where do you stand...Front lines or do you just talk about how there is no change will never be?? im just curious so take no insult..the whole glass is half empty approach only makes things just as bad...Like i said i could be wrong...so no need for crucifiction...i put my foot where my mouth was before i double checked on making that statement..i was just under the impression/assumption more vendors/collectors retailers would get on that band wagon..??? so sue me im wrong..tell that to John Brandt..i think he is on the MAC board...
