I moved my tank 6 months ago, and the pH has never recovered. It is consistantly above 9.0, until I did 100 percent water change with pure RO/DI water. The low point on the pH qas 8.9, and has now looked to creep back up again. Before I moved it was always around 8.6

The tank has a wet dry and is running amagnun 350 with 2 Chemi-Pure packs (recently changed).

I've tried baking soda and other pH adjusters, but to no luck.

Any ideas what would be keeping this so high?

The fish seem stresses, and the purple tang is white!

Thanks,

How are you measuring your pH?

I suspect you either have a faulty test kit or a low battery on a meter...it's real hard to get your pH that high unless you're adding lots of kalk to your tank.

Brand new test kit - maybe I started with really hard water, and have only been diluting it? I've changed over 120 gallons on a 120 gallon tank.

Any way the wet dry, or magnum, biological systems have gone bad? I'm sure I distrubed the biological system when I moved it, but after 6 months it would seem that the system should be back in sync.

Any other wags are appreciated.

(BTW - a recent water tested revelled the amonium and nitrates are moving up - but there is nothing large dead in the system. I'll haev to moniter the food input more closely.)
