I'm building a skimmer for my system and I want to know if Marine Goop is safe to use as a sealant in a reef system. If not, what are your recommendations? Thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question so I am going to move it to the General Forum so that it will get more exposure. I am sure someone must know the answer to your question.

Opps. I moved it to the Nano forum by mistake.

Maybe one of the Mods of this forum could move it to the general forum.

One of the mods has used it! :)

I actually have used marine goop to seal the weatherstripping on the inside of the lid on my sealed .5 gallon reef. After drying, I have had no issues with toxicity.

Yes. I have also used both marine goop and household goop. They are fine as long as you let them cure fully. This may take a few days depending on how much you use but I have never seen any negatives from using this product. The EPA would not allow it if it were toxic after the curing period.

Finishing off what Louey started ;) ..... Moved to the GRD, where you might get some better replies.

Marine Goop smells for weeks... I won't use it if I have any other alternatives, such as epoxy, superglue, etc... with acrylic skimmer construction, most people use PVC glue if the material is PVC, and solvent cement like WeldOn if the materical is acrylic. HTH.
