AquaCon and intellectual property theft

Mine are up there. Although they severely altered their color. I have all originals straight off the cam saved.

They are currently taking many good faith measures so I am glady working with them to fix the problem. From what I've been told, their management has changed recently (within the last two years) and many of these problems were inherited from the previous owner.

Heheh...they stole Greg's picture of L. carmabi from October 2006, and are using it as L. swalesi.

Are ther no lawyers from Florida on the BB?

I usually do not support litigation, but this company has been scamming since before 1999. I have never seen any positive news about Aquacon since I have been on the web. They used to get bad reports on their own BB in the late 90's.

Just speculating, but maybe it's tough to get any kind of settlement in a case like this...what kind of value would you ascribe to a few pictures of fish? :?

Copyright infringements can carry heavy civil penalties. You would certainly get slammed in court for using pictures of Ronald McDonald or Microsoft. Some jurisdictions it is also a criminal offense. I would also join forces with those who have been screwed by this company monitarily. I used to post on their BB back in the day and they were trash back then.

I wonder if it's safe to assume all the pictures they didn't write their name across are pictures they took from someone else. They took one of mine once and it took me forever to get them to take it down.

They put their name on my pictures, so it's safe to assume that any picture could be IP infringement.

Alright, I was just thinking out loud since only some of the pictures on the site had a name across them. Since they are so lazy I figured they were too lazy to alter pics they stole from others.
