Unfortunately its probably too much of a dream that they be honestly labeled. - That would mean that a retailer knew the real origin for most fish which isn't usually the case from what I understand...

"you don't have extra powerheads?"

ohh ive got PLENTY of extras but im sure there are people without the foresight.

i think cyanide caught is going to be with us for awhile, what i really hate though is the dyed corals. i think that is just plain fraud. the store owners should know what is real and what is obviously artificial. it should be a crime to sell dyed corals, its fraud plain and simple. its the same thing as if i sold you something that didnt work.

To be honest, they could have an ignorant staff, overblown prices, and an incredibly limited selection. But whenever a LFS has a pretty hot employee working the register, then I'll be buying snails from the cold tank everyday.

I am in South Florida and think that our biggest advantage is that we can get real filtered saltwater and most LFS, so no need for mixing salt and such, I have 5 5 gallon jugs and they will even load it in the car for me ($.50 a gallon). Dry goods are expensive aswell, on line is much cheaper, but the argument of "what if you need something in a hurry?" is valid. As far as fish and coral goes, I would never order online, prices and selection are comparable if not better and I can see what I buy! I think the most important criteria is knowledgable staff which, unfortunately, here aswell, is scarce.

Dood, the closest good LFS is 1.5 hrs away in greenwich so u pay twice as much as anywhere else.

Here is my list

1)CLean tanks-one LFS nearby has a huge valonia breakout in the reef tank and cyano in every other one.
2)Knowlegable staff-one guy didnt know what zooanthids were
3)Disease free fish
4)A good variety of fish and coral
5)A line of good products-they carry every imaginable WHisper filter and like nothing else.

That store is near my house. Too bad she doesn't work there, b/c I would always want the snails from the bottom! 8O 8)

I have been lucky to find a LFS that has kick butt frags up for sale all the time, just found out about them recently.
