Last week I decided to convert my poor excuse of a reef into an agressive tank. I found the greatest little Clown Trigger at my LFS. Hes about an inch and a half long and very active.

All was great for the first few days but I noticed yesterday he is coming down with ich.

The ich itself isnt a big problem, I will take care of that. What has me worried is I noticed his stomach is looking quite large. Almost like he swollowed a small marble. I looked through a book I have and it mentioned bacteria infections can cause such swelling.

If it is bacteria how can I treat it.

As of this morning water paramaters are fine. My SG was up around 1.27 and now down to 1.25. I will be taking it down further tomorrow.

Thanks for any help,

It could be bacterial or worm infestation. In either case, you'll need to administer medication in a quarentine tank seperate from your main reef. Try different antibiotics to see what is effective (neomycin, nitrofurazone, kanamycin, Mayacin 2, et al).

I feel your pain :P I've tried netting triggers and it's near impossible. The unfortunate news is that if it's bacterial (or worm), you need to remove him to administer medication. Otherwise, there's little you can do but hope it gets better on its own (and this does happen).
