I go there for some stuff once in a while. The place is huge and has lots of stock but doesnt carry alot of the top brands, like precision marine, DT's, cyclopeeze, salifert, ect. This is beyond me it makes no sense. In any case in the years I have been shopping there their live stock has always been way underpar, ofter fish were found with ick and quite often were cyanide caught.

Recently they updated their holding tanks to new acrylic tanks and a large acrylic coral tank. They have nice eductors on the coral tank but dont sell them...

Their corals/fish are pretty much priced at the LFS style pricing and dont usually have any stunning/rare corals. They usually have some TR clowns and some large angels, the usual stock.

For general supplies like addatives, hosing, heaters, ect their pricing is better then normal and close to most online venders. I was their last week and watched a little girl and her mother drop a large piece of filter floss into a tank with a majestic angel, then the angel started eating the floss.

I used to live in a few places outside Philly (Hatfield, Conshohocken & Collingdale) and went there a few times when I was out that way.. - 'Course, this was back in the early 90's though, so what I used to know of them is kinda old..

Anyway, if I knew I was gonna buy a lot of drygoods and wanted to piss away a day on a "country-road roadtrip", then yeah, maybe I *might* do it, but otherwise?? - Faaaagetaboudit!

Livestock when I was there was absolute crap like Ben says and if all I needed was a few things drygood-wise then I'd just order 'em up from marinedepot or online somewhere or support my local LFS if they were worth a crap.

It is huge, so its kinda neat to see, but overall... - IMO, not the best place for an experienced reefer by any stretch.

HTH,
Norm

I am going there this weekend, but only because my LFS "the Salt Box" closed her doors this week.
I came to the realization during herclosing sale that there is no LFS in central PA that is worth its "salt".

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good store in the general vacinity of central PA???

Well may not be central PA but in philly there is smaller place called the hidden reef. Top notch as far as healthy livestock goes.

4 hours is a LONG haul for a fish store. 8O It would have to be pretty damn specail for me to even consider an hour drive, let alone four.

When there are NO stores in your area even a crap store starts to look good. Philly is about a 3+ hours drive.

Are you going to PA anyway and just wanted to stop in? I've heard that Fish Safari in Virginia Beach is great. Knowledgable staff, big selection of corals, big propegation system, etc.

I order a lot from that pet place when i want cheap run of the mill dry goods. They are definitely NOT for experienced reefers as others have said. My one trip to thier facility (a longgggggg ways from NH) was very underwhelming.
