Couple Q's about my fuge

Hi all -- I'm looking for a little help.

My in-sump refugium area has really started to explode with life recently. I'm wondering what, if anything, I should do to help some of the critters (mainly various 'pods) make the move to my display.

Also, whilst I'm asking questions, are there any guidelines for when and how to prune the Caleurpa I'm growing in there? Its really thick, and I'm not sure if its growing much anymore, hence probably not consuming maximum nutrients.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard a few say you can get a small container, pull out some macro/rock/whatever and shake it into the cup, then pour the cup into the main tank (or just take the entire macro out adn shake it while in the main tank).

I'ld love to hear what the proper method of pruning caleurpa is too. I have some prolifera in mine.

I persistently trim Caleurpa on a fixed bi-weekly schedule. For some species, if you let it grow unchecked, they'll quickly go sexual. I just yank mine with my hand

I wouldn't worry much about importing refugium fauna to the display tank. At night, when most of these micro-critters are active or reproducing, a lot is naturally going to be pumped into the main tank.

I also take the calerpa out of my refugium on a weekly basis, but I usually have more than a cup of it, so I put it in a large bucket, add some tank water and shake out the critters (there are a lot hiding in there), then add them to the main tank with the water.
