So I bought this flame for my 46 reef about a month ago, and he has never been right.
After sitting is some copper for a week, I put him in my tank only to see white spots the next day. Rather then shocking him again and moving him all around, I decided to use RXP (use it all the time in my reef and only have good things to say about it) fot the ich. I don't use the full treatment but enought to keep things undercontroll. After that, one of his eyes got all Hazey (right eye) and the right pectoral fin rotted away (almost overnight). Once again RXP and Protect Coat saved my tank and gave this guy another chance. Now however, his left Eye and become inflamed (pop eye) and really really cloudy. His right pectoral fin is also showing some signs of stress again.
I am using Mella Fix to sooth the inflamation, but how do I cure this guy once and for all? Does copper cure infections as well as parasites? Is this a common thing with angles?
My two bar gobies and Maroon clown are all doing great, but this flame is really driving me nuts.

Any advice would really help me.

Thanks in advance,
J.

Are you doing all this in a QT tank?

If not, I'd get all your fish out of the main tank for 6 weeks as others have suggested...

Also, consider trying the hyposalinity treatment if you see more ick.

I've recently had some "success" with Maracyn II for a cloudy eye (and slightly puffy) on my royal gramma

Good luck!

Why were you treating the fish with copper to begin with? It sounds like the white spots didn't show up until after you moved the fish and stopped treating with copper. It is extremely difficult to diagnose fish health problems without first answering a few dozen questions about the fish, history, aquarium, etc, etc. If you are confident that the fish has ich then hypo is probably the best treatment provided you have an accurate refractometer and you watch the pH daily. Secondary bacterial infection is common when fish are infected with parasites. Usually, the bacterial infection comes under control once the parasites are off of the fish. Furanance is a good choice of antibiotic. The only copper that small angels tolerate well is Cupramine tested twice a day.
