Success w/ Fox Coral

Hi guys,
Anybody have any advice on keeping Fox Corals open? (Nemanzophyllia turbida) Mine was doing well for a long time at the bottom of the tank, but I moved it up and it didn't like the intense light. So I moved it back and it has barely opened for 2+ weeks. My water chemistry and levels test great.

Any suggestions on placement/etc are super super appreciated.

Moving a happy coral around a lot is a good way to kill it off. I would put it back where it was happy and leave it alone

Does it get more flow now that its been moved around? I only ask, because before I got my Fox, I read several posts/articles/tips that advised lower lighting levels, and lower flow rates.

Mine does really well lower in the tank, and I've got it sort of shielded by some rocks to limit the flow in its vicinity.

Fox coral is pretty hardy, I'd just put it back where it was, or give it more time to adjust to the new lighting conditions. If it appears to be overly stressed in its new position (ie it starts to bleach), then I'd immediatly move it back down. But I have to agree; if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :wink:

I like to try to simulate a corals natural postion when possible which I believe would be on the substrate for a fox coral like he probably was at first. I would probably put him back where he was happy at and leave him alone for a while like you have done.
