what's a good calcium testkit?

I've been using Aquarium Systems Seatest CA test; it changes so gradually from pink to blue its impossible to tell what my calcium level is. Any suggestions for another brand?

Salifert does the same thing, Dan. I'm color blind too, so it's VERY difficult to tell for me. Have your wife help you.

I use the Salifert kit and find it's much easier to see when it turns to a true blue color by holding it up to a window during the day. I find it much harder to make the distinction under incandescent house lighting.

Yeah, that's what I do with the Seatest kit. But it never really gets blue, just goes from pink to more and more purple...

I'm glad I'm not the only person that has this problem! My wife gets so frustrated because everything I test, I'm constantly running and asking, "Is it blue yet?" I usually hold a white sheet of paper behind it to help me a little. My readings are probably never consistant, but they're close. I usually say my calcium is "between 450-500" because sometimes I can see the difference and sometimes I can't.

I will say I started out with Fastest or Seatest basic kit (ph, nitrate,etc) and it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to see the correct color. Salifert is much easier for me.

I'm pretty sure it was a Seatest kit I tried a few years ago and had the same experience.

With the Salifert kit I can tell when the hint of purple is gone and it looks pure blue. Tropic Marin is also supposedly a good kit.

Salifert promised to make me a test kit that went blue-yellow at one time because it would be easier for me to see with my colorblindness. Never did show up, although he said he mailed it twice. :|
