hi all,
I've been having some red slime algae on my sand bed. I recently got new replacement bulbs(2-96 watts P.C.'s), about 3-4 weeks ago. I noticed the algae is getting better, but there's still some still on the sand bed. I use R.O. water, and nothing but!!! I feed once a day, 1 cube of Formula 1. I'm just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a certain type of snail, hermit crab, or a fish that'll aid me in getting rid of this minor case of red slime. Thank you all, and have a great one!!

I wouldn't recommend adding any critters at the moment.
Need some answers first.
How long has the tank been set up?
What type of filtration?
What kind of circulation?
Is your sand bed live?
Cyano is usually just a phase.

the tank has been set up for 3 years, i have a hang on precision marine skimmer, current - 2 powerheads, and the current for the skimmer. The sand bed is live.

What is your tank's size?

What is your flow turn around rate? (number of gph / tank's volume)

Where is your majority of flow? (on top, bottom or pretty equal throughout your tank)

When you say sand bed, what media did you used?

Is the cyanobacteria/Dinos only on the sand bed, not on LR and etc?

What is your tank's pH daily cycle?

it's a 46 gallon, the sand bed is aragonite, the slime is just on the sand. I spoke to J.R. at Coral Reef in Seekonk, MA., told him of my situation. He's very familiar with my setup. Don't know if you know him or not, but he's very intelligent, and I trust his word!!!! He suggests 2 Conch's, so thats what i'm going to do. thank you all for your help, and info..
