Durso standpipe ?

If the hole in the top of the durso is really loud...does that mean i need to make it larger? I put a piece of tubing in there which helps, but still is way to loud.

Any help or experiences would be great.

have you tried to put a long airline tubing on the air intake? it works great for durso or venturi.

yeah I have a long one running into my sump area to help deaden the noise.

I have heard dursos nearly silent though...just wondering what I am doing wrong.

mik, i mean run a long airline tubing from the the venturi air intake. i run the long airline tubing outside my stand to draw in fresh air (advice given in advanced aquarist magazine). it also makes the venturi sound quieter

I'd drill larger. You can also install a valve to control air intake rate.
