I have had my Titanium $50 heater for less than 20 hours and I already managed to fry it!

Yup, I had a water emergency today and had to do a 70% water change. Not thinking about the new heater in the panic, I let the water down much further than the heater. Now it is burnt looking and discolored. I took it out and scrubbed it to no avail. It seems to still work so I put it back in for now.

Anyone beat that time on toasting new equipment?

Dang, sorry to hear that! And no, I can't beat that! Consider a Won Pro titanium heater with the dial temp control for your next heater...mine has worked very well for me.

Just curious. What caused the water emergency that required 70% of the water to be removed? Seems a bit drastic to me.

Sorry to hear.

Can't give any specific examples but back in the days of building heathkits, it was very common to beat your record. One wire misplaced and the smoke told the story.

Actually I did have a clock chip an a heathkit TV do that. Seems I put it in the wrong way. the little dot for pin one was hard to see. Only that time the chip never smoked.


What was really amazing was how many time the kits worked as designed.
