I just bought some cured live rock and after introducing them into the tank, found a huge hairfy crab as a stow away. Are they ok?

3-5 cm, or inches? These stone (or rock) crabs are fairly common in LR, and when they get big enough they will start taking down your snails. I've taken a few that I've found back to the LFS. They haven't given me any credit, but they do thrive in their FO tanks.

I ere on the side of caution and get him out if you can. I've had a few crabs that made gourmet lunches out of my fish and inverts until I removed them.

Throw it in your sump. I've had one in mine for a couple years. Thing looks pretty mean too. About the size of a silver dollar now, that's body only.

I have taken a pair out of my tank. The first time I put snails in is when I found the first one. He had a good snack at that point. Second one was found eyeing an overturned snail. Neither of them is in the tank any longer, but I sometimes worry there may be more. Besides, its not like they're cute... unless you like hairy crabs.
